G36C: Made by Heckler and Koch, the G36 rifle series fires the NATO standard 5.56x45mm cartridge, but used proprietary magazines. (Thank you u/Cancer-squadron for the updated info!) The French armed forces have since transitioned to the more reliable G36. ”F2” FAMAS F1: Exclusively produced to be the standard issue rifle of the French armed forces (semi-automatic versions are available on the civilian market), the FAMAS utilizes STANAG magazines (5.56x45mm) and is in a bullpup configuration that can be converted for left hand use. It uses NATO STANAG standard magazines, and is impossible to convert for a left-handed user (with “bullpup” designs, the action behind the trigger group, shells ejecting on the right side would go right into the face of a left-handed shooter). It has notoriously bad ergonomics but is a large step up from the L85A1, which was considered the worst modern military service rifle. L85A2: The Enfield L85 is a 5.56x45mm assault rifle produced exclusively as the standard issue rifle for the UK military forces.
